The Central Library was established in 1958 at Town Hall, Chandni Chowk and has a rich history in municipal affairs of Delhi. Since its inception, this library has been an important centre of study for Municipal Councillors, corporation officials, employees and researchers. The library has a rich collection of over six thousand books and manuscripts. The Library houses rare government reports, reference books, journals apart from books on constitution, law, science, commerce, history and literature in various languages. The library is a repository of knowledge on local governance and practices. A large number of books are available here through which readers can get information about the rules, laws and history of the Corporation.
The Central Library is computerised with a state-of-the-art facility to search catalogue and get the books issued. The Library also has adequate seating facility for reading and research. It has a subscription of over 25 magazines/journals and leading newspapers and business daily.
